U of A Ringette

In partnership with the Alberta Cancer Foundation, the U of A Ringette Team hosted Ringette Scores on Cancer at West Edmonton Mall on January 30th and 31st. A total of 12 ringette teams participated in the event which raised an astonishing $55,000 for the Cross Cancer Institute. This amount more than doubled original estimates by event organizers.

The event was structured so each player performed fundraising in order to participate in Ringette Scores on Cancer. Leading the way was 9 year old Taylor Hrynchuk from Ft. Saskatchewan who raised an incredible $6,000 in pledges for cancer research!

As part of Ringette Scores on Cancer, the U of A Ringette Team took on a media/celebrity team in an exhibition game. A jam packed crowd watched as the U of A Team ultimately claimed victory in a multi round shoot out between the two teams. The media/celebrity team included former NHL'ers, Rob Brown and Louie DeBrusk, current pro-athletes, such as Jimmy Quinlan of the Edmonton Rush, as well as a host of other  athletes, members of the media and local celebrities.

The U of A Ringette Team celebrated 6 years of existence with the completion of the 2008/2009 season. Through the creative genius of #26 Jill Peters, a series of timeline posters (see links below) were created to commemorate the events and happenings during the Team's 2003 - 2009 years. Please be patient, the timeline files are fairly large and take a few moments to download......but they're certainly worth the wait!!
